Basketball Recap: Haley Huynh's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Encinal over Alameda

If Encinal was riding high fresh off their 52-21 takedown of Hayward on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Encinal Jets took a hard 51-34 fall against the Alameda Hornets on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 392nd, while the Hornets are ranked 158th).

Encinal lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Haley Huynh, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 14 points and three steals. Jazzy Alcantar was another key player, putting up six points and 14 boards.

Encinal has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Alameda, their record now sits at 9-5.

Encinal has already played their next game, a 42-24 win against Arroyo on the 15th. As for Alameda, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-35 victory against Castro Valley on the 14th.
