Basketball Recap: Downey Knights vs. Modesto Panthers
The Downey Knights won the last time they faced the Modesto Panthers, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Downey walked away with a 40-27 win over the Panthers.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Downey to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aleccia-Betzabel Garrido, who scored 11 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garrido has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Monroy, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Downey is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-16 record this season. As for Modesto, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-17.
Downey will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Turlock will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Modesto, they will head out on the road to challenge the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gregori is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
