Softball Recap: Pueblo County Starts off Right with Win over Mesa Ridge

Pueblo County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies with a sharp 9-3 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Hornets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Erin Garcia was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isabella Mares, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Mesa Ridge and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Pueblo County will square off against Liberty at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Mesa Ridge, they will face off against Cheyenne Mountain at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
