Basketball Game Preview: Del Mar Dons vs. Gilroy Mustangs

Del Mar has gone 7-0 against Gilroy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Del Mar Dons will welcome the Gilroy Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Gilroy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Del Mar, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Del Mar made off with a 44-43 victory over Lincoln. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dons.

It was another big night for Zoey Hinkle, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 23 rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in December of 2023. Kimani Yarber was another key player, putting up seven points and seven assists.

Del Mar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 17 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Gilroy came up short against Lincoln on Thursday and fell 52-43.

Gilroy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Del Mar, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Del Mar was able to grind out a solid win over Gilroy in their previous matchup back in January, winning 50-40. Does Del Mar have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gilroy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
