Soccer Game Preview: Poly vs. Verdugo Hills

The Poly Parrots will head out on the road to challenge the Verdugo Hills Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Poly took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Monroe onto the board and left with a 3-0 win. The Parrots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by three goals or more this season.

Genesis Garcia and Valerie Aguilera scored all three of Poly's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Meanwhile, Verdugo Hills waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They beat the Mustangs by a goal, winning 1-0. The Dons' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matches.

Verdugo Hills' victory bumped their record up to 11-5-1. As for Poly, they are also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Poly suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to Verdugo Hills in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Poly avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
