Basketball Recap: Jlynn Mitchell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Torres over Mission Oak

On Saturday, the Torres Toros were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 38-33 to the Mission Oak Hawks.

Torres lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was JLynn Mitchell, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. Jillian Villalobos was another key player, going 5 for 10 to rack up 15 points.

Braelyn Serpa was her usual excellent self, putting up 20 points and five rebounds for Mission Oak. Another player making a difference was Aiyana Murray, who posted eight points and eight boards.

Torres' loss dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Mission Oak, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-13.

Torres has already played their next game, a 40-39 defeat against Sanger on the 4th. As for Mission Oak, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 36-32 loss against Tulare Union on the 4th.
