Basketball Game Preview: Murrieta Mesa Rams vs. Murrieta Valley Nighthawks

Murrieta Mesa and Murrieta Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Murrieta Mesa Rams will venture away from home to take on the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Murrieta Mesa is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Murrieta Mesa came up short against Chaparral on Friday, falling 59-35. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 773rd, while the Pumas are ranked 290th).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-41, which was the final score in Murrieta Valley's tilt against Great Oak on Friday.

Murrieta Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Murrieta Valley, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-10.

Murrieta Mesa was dealt a bruising 54-25 loss at the hands of Murrieta Valley when the teams last played on January 10th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Murrieta Valley's Valerie Lauritzen, who posted 20 points in addition to five boards and five steals.
