Basketball Game Preview: Bell Gardens Lancers vs. Schurr Spartans

The Bell Gardens Lancers will head out on the road to square off against the Schurr Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Bell Gardens is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 61 points on Friday, they were much more limited against Mark Keppel on Monday. They were beaten by the Aztecs 67-21. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 892nd, while the Aztecs are ranked 180th).

Meanwhile, Schurr took their match on Monday with ease, bagging a 50-6 win over Montebello. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Schurr has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.4 points per game. As for Bell Gardens, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-18.

Bell Gardens ended up a good deal behind Schurr when the teams last played last Friday, losing 51-36. Can Bell Gardens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
