Preview: West Covina Bulldogs vs. Charter Oak Chargers

The West Covina Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Charter Oak Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for West Covina and six for Charter Oak.

West Covina suffered their biggest loss since November 30, 2023 on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 65-19 loss at the hands of Northview. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Covina in their matchups with Northview: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Charter Oak was beaten by San Dimas 66-26 on Monday. While losing is never fun, Charter Oak can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1001st, while San Dimas is ranked 150th).

West Covina's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-17. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.2 points per game. As for Charter Oak, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

West Covina came up short against Charter Oak when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 39-34. Can West Covina avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
