Softball Recap: Callaway Takes a Loss

Callaway came into this matchup off a tough seven-run loss on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Troup County Tigers by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. The Cavaliers just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Lilah Monteith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Callaway saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kinley Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Callaway's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Troup County, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Callaway will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Shaw at 6:30 p.m. on the 27th. As for Troup County, they will host Heard County at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
