Basketball Recap: Valley View Takes a Loss

Valley View played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 73-34 defeat at the hands of the Rancho Christian Eagles. Valley View has struggled against Rancho Christian recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Valley View's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jada Booten, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds, and Mason Long, who posted 16 points and five assists. The game was Long's tenth in a row with at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Valley View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Alyson Boyd continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rancho Christian, almost dropping a double-double on 24 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Boyd a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Hailey Whitman, who went 5 for 6 en route to 10 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.

Valley View's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Rancho Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.

Valley View has already played their next matchup, a 60-46 win against Poly on the 14th. As for Rancho Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-47 victory against Francis Parker on the 11th.
