Basketball Recap: Palo Verde Valley Comes Up Short

Palo Verde Valley lost against Imperial back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets lost to the Imperial Tigers at home by a 41-27 margin. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 819th, while the Tigers are ranked 139th).

Reagan McCarthy was Palo Verde Valley's leading scorer, having posted eight points.

Imperial found their leader in freshman Elynna Jimenez, who posted 14 points.

Palo Verde Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Imperial, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palo Verde Valley will challenge Calexico at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th. Imperial has already played their next contest (against Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
