Soccer Recap: Etowah Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Marietta

While Etowah's victory against Marietta wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Etowah Eagles beat the Marietta Blue Devils by a goal, winning 3-2. The win was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Blue Devils are ranked 12th).

Etowah now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Marietta, they moved to 6-1 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Coming up, Etowah will square off against Cherokee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Etowah is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Marietta, they will challenge Wheeler at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Marietta will be up against Wheeler's rather soft defense (which has allowed 4.29 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
