Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Lions vs. St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins

The Liberty Lions and the St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins will face off at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Liberty will be strutting in after a victory while St. Patrick-St. Vincent will be coming in after a defeat.

Liberty is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Campolindo on Friday. Liberty came out on top against Campolindo by a score of 57-47. The win was all the more spectacular given the Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 620th, while the Cougars are ranked 233rd).

Shyanne Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 21 points in addition to six boards and three steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lola Acosta, who posted ten points along with five boards and four steals.

Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, St. Patrick-St. Vincent came up short against Foothill on Friday and fell 55-44.

Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
