Basketball Recap: Overton Skates Past Gibbon with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Overton on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Gibbon Buffaloes out of the water with a 73-24 final score. With the Eagles ahead 46-15 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Overton had a senior duo take command as Daisy Ryan shot 55% from the field to rack up 17 points in addition to eight boards and four steals and Gracen Hughes went 6-for-11 en route to 12 points and seven steals. Ryan has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chelsey Gonzalez, who posted ten points and three steals.

Overton was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gibbon only racked up eight.

Gibbon's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Karsyn Grimes, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards, and Emma Clark, who scored no points.

Overton now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Gibbon, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Overton will square off against Axtell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gibbon, they will challenge Arcadia/Loup City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Buffaloes' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
