Soccer Recap: Metter's Undefeated Season over After 14 Games

After flying high against Claxton last Tuesday, Metter came back down to earth. The Tigers lost 5-1 to the Atkinson County Rebels on Friday. Metter were red-hot offensively heading into the match (they scored no less than four goals in the three contests prior), but Atkinson County's defense proved too tough.

Metter's goal came courtesy of Anthony Benitez, who's now up to 30 this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Metter fell to 13-1. As for Atkinson County, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-2.

Looking ahead, Metter will square off against Wheeler County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Metter are facing Wheeler County at the right time seeing as Wheeler County are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Atkinson County, they will take on Cook at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Atkinson County will be up against Cook's rather soft defense (which has allowed 4.15 goals per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
