Soccer Game Preview: Allatoona vs. Northwest Whitfield

The Allatoona Buccaneers will challenge the Northwest Whitfield Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Allatoona is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Georgia's top teams: Cedartown, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Allatoona was ranked 23rd). Allatoona put the hurt on Cedartown with a sharp 7-0 win on Tuesday. That seven goal margin sets a new team best for Allatoona this season.

Meanwhile, while the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Northwest Whitfield who was credited with the victory on Tuesday. Northwest Whitfield got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Gilmer's three. Northwest Whitfield haven't had any issues with Gilmer recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Allatoona pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five matchups. As for Northwest Whitfield, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.

Allatoona was able to grind out a solid win over Northwest Whitfield in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Allatoona since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
