Football Game Preview: Desert Christian Knights vs. Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals

Desert Christian hasn't had much luck against Santa Clarita Christian recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Knights will welcome the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Desert Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups.

Desert Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 55-14 win over Desert. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-0.

Ray Latimore produced another solid performance rushing for 94 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Justin Green was another key player, picking up 63 receiving yards and one TD.

Another reason for the win was Desert Christian's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. It was truly a group effort as Abraham Lamoreaux, Franky Arcidiacono, and Kenneth Castillo picked up two apiece. Lamoreaux got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Santa Clarita Christian took a blow against Chadwick on Friday, falling 54-14. The Cardinals were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Desert Christian pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.7 points on average over those games. As for Santa Clarita Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
