Basketball Game Preview: Frankford Pioneers vs. Franklin Towne Warriors

The Frankford Pioneers will square off against the Franklin Towne Warriors at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Frankford is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Overbrook for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-12 win. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Janeliss Laboy was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 15 en route to 19 points in addition to six boards and six steals. She has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last eight times she's played. Nakyra Harris was another key player, putting up six points along with ten rebounds and seven steals.

Frankford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Franklin Towne against Jules E. Mastbaum Vo-Tech on Monday as the squad secured a 40-7 victory. That looming 40-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.

The win made it two in a row for Franklin Towne and bumps their season record up to 6-7. As for Frankford, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.

Frankford was dealt a bruising 52-8 defeat at the hands of Franklin Towne when the teams last played back in December of 2016. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Frankford was down 32-0.
