Softball Recap: Northwest Whitfield Bruins vs. Adairsville Tigers
Northwest Whitfield extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-18. They lost 10-4 to the Adairsville Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-4 back in August.
As for Adairsville, they moved to 13-15 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
For Adairsville's part, Ashlyn Carlton made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). Carlton has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Ashlynn Durden and Maddie Baggett did most of the damage at the plate: Durden went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Baggett went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Durden has posted since back in August of 2024. Lily Roberts also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
While Northwest Whitfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
