Softball Recap: Bryan Comes Up Short

Bryan extended their losing streak to eight on Wednesday, dropping them down to 5-21. They came up short against the Lincoln Northeast Rockets, falling 13-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-0 back in August.

As for Lincoln Northeast, they moved to 9-18 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

For Lincoln Northeast's part, Jadyn Dryer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dryer has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lincoln Northeast got a big performance out of Brynley Chairez, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lily McPike, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Bryan wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-7 victory against Burke on the 2nd. As for Lincoln Northeast, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-0 defeat against Bellevue East on the 2nd.
