Basketball Preview: Dos Palos Broncos vs. Firebaugh Eagles
The Dos Palos Broncos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Firebaugh Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dos Palos will be strutting in after a victory while the Eagles will be coming in after a loss.
Dos Palos was handed a 42-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against the Buccaneers on Friday. Dos Palos had just enough and edged the Buccaneers out 27-24. The victory was just what Dos Palos needed coming off of a 66-24 loss in their prior game.
Dos Palos found their leader in underclassman Hannah Slimp, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Slimp has scored at least a third of Dos Palos' points.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 57 points the game before, Firebaugh were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 44-15 loss at the hands of Mendota. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Firebaugh in their matchups with the Aztecs: they've now lost eight in a row.
Dos Palos' win bumped their record up to 5-17. As for Firebaugh, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-13.
