Baseball Recap: Firelands Comes Up Short

Firelands was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vermilion Sailors. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sailors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Aaron Bower made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Firelands' defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Vermilion, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.

Firelands and Vermilion could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Falcons will take on Elyria Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (518 vs. 153). Meanwhile, Vermilion (ranked 485th) will meet Bellevue (ranked 201st) at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
