Basketball Recap: JW North's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak at Home

It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but JW North ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against the Liberty Bison by a score of 51-41. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 34-32 back in January.

JW North's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maya Marmolejo, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Marmolejo is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Marisol Blanco, who posted eight points along with six boards and three steals.

JW North was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only posted three assists.

Several Bison players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kelli Harris-Wellman, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Payne, who scored eight points and five boards.

JW North's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-16. As for Liberty, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

JW North didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 73-41 defeat against Poly on the 1st. As for Liberty, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-28 loss against Hemet on the 3rd.
