Baseball Recap: Markesan Takes a Loss

Markesan fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Lomira on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 9-8. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Keaton Jerome was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs. Logan Lemke was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Markesan's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Lomira, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Markesan will face off against Pecatonica at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lomira, they will take on Waupun at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
