Softball Recap: Hicks Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Hicks extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 12-1. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the West Ouachita Chiefs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since March 11, 2025.

Courtlyn Dousay was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayde Wilbanks, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for West Ouachita, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-12. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by just one run.

On West Ouachita's side, Kamryn Henley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Charley Crockett, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Looking ahead, Hicks will square off against Claiborne Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Ouachita, they will take on Ponchatoula at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
