Basketball Recap: Sacred Heart of Jesus' Undefeated Season over After Seven Games

If Sacred Heart of Jesus was feeling good fresh off their 57-2 takedown of Rise Kohyang on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Comets took a hard 55-41 fall against the West Ranch Wildcats on Friday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Comets, who until this game were averaging 29.29 points allowed.

Despite the loss, Sacred Heart of Jesus still got an impressive performance from Syenna Semerena, who posted 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Huerta, who scored eight points and five boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Sacred Heart of Jesus fell to 6-1. As for West Ranch, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Sacred Heart of Jesus and West Ranch will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Comets are set to challenge their familiar foe Paraclete at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, West Ranch will take on rival Golden Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
