Preview: Whittier Christian Heralds vs. Savanna Rebels
The Whittier Christian Heralds will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Savanna Rebels at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Whittier Christian sitting on five straight wins and Savanna on three.
Last Wednesday, everything went Whittier Christian's way against Saddleback as Whittier Christian made off with a 42-20 victory. Given Whittier Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Saddleback is ranked 1073rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Whittier Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zoe Sanborn out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Ariana Botello was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Savanna didn't have too much trouble with Costa Mesa at home on Friday as they won 46-27. 46 seems to be a good number for Savanna as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Whittier Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Savanna, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1.
Whittier Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Savanna when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 39-34 win. Will Whittier Christian repeat their success, or does Savanna have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
