Football Recap: Vermilion Comes Up Short

Vermilion fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Port Clinton on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They and the Redskins were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 29-28 loss. The Sailors were up 14-0 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Although Vermilion took the loss, they still got scores from Aiden Saunders, Joe Schaub, and Drake Hooks.

Even if they lost, Vermilion's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Sean Brownell refused to say out of the backfield, picking up a sack all by himself. Vermilion got some further help from Daniel Roy: he made 15 total tackles.

This is the second loss in a row for Vermilion and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Port Clinton, they now also have a winning record of 4-3.

Looking ahead, Vermilion will take on Huron at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Port Clinton, they will be playing at home against Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers' defense has only allowed 13.3 points per game this season, so the Redskins' offense will have their work cut out for them.
