Baseball Game Preview: Deerfield-Windsor Knights vs. Tiftarea Academy Panthers

Deerfield-Windsor hasn't had much luck against Tiftarea Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 3:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Deerfield-Windsor took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Lakeside School.

Gage Tomlinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Deerfield-Windsor secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Lane Sceals, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Tiftarea Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Deerfield-Windsor 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Deerfield-Windsor's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Tiftarea Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
