Baseball Game Preview: Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack vs. Providence Catholic Celtics

Saint Ignatius College Prep hasn't had much luck against Providence Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wolfpack are taking a road trip to challenge the Celtics at 4:30 p.m.

St. Laurence hit Saint Ignatius College Prep with a eight-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolfpack lost 13-2 to the Vikings. That's two games in a row now that the Wolfpack have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Saint Ignatius College Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reid Hites, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double. Ryan Krantz was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Providence Catholic made sure to put some runs up on the board against Aurora Central Catholic on Thursday. The Celtics put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Celtics have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Saint Ignatius College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Providence Catholic, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6.

Saint Ignatius College Prep suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Providence Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Wolfpack avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
