Soccer Game Preview: MacDonald vs. Saratoga

The MacDonald Condor will venture away from home to square off against the Saratoga Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. MacDonald's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

MacDonald lost 5-1 to Cupertino on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Saratoga's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lynbrook 3-2. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 346th, while the Vikings are ranked 833rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Saratoga has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those nine games. As for MacDonald, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11-3.

MacDonald might still be hurting after the 5-0 defeat they got from Saratoga when the teams last played back in January. Can MacDonald avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
