Softball Recap: Queen's Grant Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Queen's Grant can now relate to. They lost 7-1 to the Highland Tech Rams on Friday. If the Stallions were looking for revenge after losing 4-2 to the Rams when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Addi Benton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Queen's Grant and nudges their season record down to 13-7. As for Highland Tech, they moved to 11-8 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Queen's Grant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Highland Tech, they will face off against Roxboro Community at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
