Basketball Game Preview: Fairfield Falcons vs. West Campus Warriors

The Fairfield Falcons will square off against the West Campus Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

West Campus will be up against a hot Fairfield team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Fairfield breezed by Valley to the tune of 52-7 on Wednesday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 410th, while the Vikings are ranked 1252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alaisha Mathis, who posted five points and five rebounds. Natalie Chavez was another key player, putting up five points.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely West Campus' strategy against Foothill on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that West Campus blew Foothill out of the water with a 65-10 final score. With the Warriors ahead 42-3 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Fairfield's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.8 points per game. As for West Campus, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.
