Football Game Preview: St. James Academy Thunder vs. Blue Valley North Mustangs

The St. James Academy Thunder will challenge the Blue Valley North Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Blue Valley North took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on St. James Academy, who comes in off a win.

Blue Valley North will be up against a hot St. James Academy squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Thunder came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 27-21 W against St. Pius X. Given the Thunder's advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in Kansas, while the Warriors are ranked 58th in Missouri) , the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Jake House, who rushed for 113 yards and four scores, and also picked up 49 receiving yards. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 113 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was John Hornback, who rushed for 80 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. James Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 205 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Blue Valley North played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 35-7 defeat at the hands of Blue Valley. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

St. James Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Blue Valley North, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything came up roses for St. James Academy against Blue Valley North in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 45-6 win. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
