Baseball Game Preview: Briarwood Academy Buccaneers vs. Brentwood War Eagles

Briarwood Academy hasn't had much luck against Brentwood recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Buccaneers will take on the War Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Briarwood Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Briarwood Academy is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Edmund Burke Academy, falling 16-5.

Briarwood Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Banks DeMore, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. DeMore has become a key player for the Buccaneers: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-10 otherwise. Sawyer Thigpen was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Brentwood entered their tilt with Westminster Christian Academy on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Lions. That's two games straight that the War Eagles have won by exactly seven runs.

Abe Williams was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Nathan Diaz, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Brentwood's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Briarwood Academy, they now also have a losing record of 10-11.

Briarwood Academy might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Brentwood in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Buccaneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
