Softball Recap: Central City Takes a Loss

Central City suffered their biggest defeat since September 6th on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Fort Calhoun Pioneers. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bison, who until this contest were averaging 3.33 runs allowed.

Central City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Payton Burbach, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Burbach is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Central City and nudges their season record down to 18-6. As for Fort Calhoun, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, Central City and Fort Calhoun will both be playing Highway 91 the next time they take the field. The Pioneers will host Highway 91 at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Bison will play them later in the day, at 6:30 p.m.
