Football Game Preview: Colby Eagles vs. Lakin Broncs

The Colby Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Lakin Broncs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Colby will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Colby and Goodland, and Colby kept the tradition alive. The Eagles secured a 28-24 W over the Cowboys on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Colby didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Sean Wederski and Nathan Cates.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 37 points the game before, Lakin was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. The game between the Broncs and Hoisington didn't end well, with the Broncs falling 20-6. While losing is never fun, the Broncs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Cardinals are ranked 37th).

Lakin has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Colby, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-4.

Colby couldn't quite get it done against Lakin in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 22-14. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
