Preview: Academy at Palumbo Griffin vs. Sankofa Freedom Academy Warriors
The Academy at Palumbo Griffin's's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Sankofa Freedom Academy Warriors at 3:15 p.m. on December 18th. Academy at Palumbo will be strutting in after a victory while Sankofa Freedom Academy will be coming in after a loss.
Last Monday, Academy at Palumbo made easy work of Abraham Lincoln and carried off a 60-34 victory. Given Academy at Palumbo's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Abraham Lincoln is ranked 139th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aisha Muibi was on fire: she dropped a double-double on 32 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Naimah Hargrove, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sankofa Freedom Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss dating back to last season. They fell to Abraham Lincoln 37-31. The loss was just more heartbreak for Sankofa Freedom Academy who fell 30-28 when the teams previously met back in January of 2022.
Academy at Palumbo's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Sankofa Freedom Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Academy at Palumbo beat Sankofa Freedom Academy 36-28 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Academy at Palumbo since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
