Football Game Preview: Pontiac Indians vs. Tolono Unity Rockets + How To Watch

Pontiac is 1-9 against Tolono Unity since September of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Indians will venture away from home to face off against the Rockets at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Pontiac took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 28-7 margin over Illinois Valley Central. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Indians have posted against the Grey Ghosts since September 7, 2018.

Pontiac relied on the efforts of Jayden Reed, who gained 129 total yards and two touchdowns, and Brody Karr, who rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown. Alvin (A.J.) Delong also deserves some recognition as he rushed for his first rushing yards of the season.

Pontiac's run defense was locked in: Illinois Valley Central could only muster -0.1 yards per carry. While three picked up at least seven total tackles, Josh Hartke stood above the rest. He made seven total tackles. Pontiac didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged eight.

Meanwhile, Tolono Unity really took it to St. Joseph-Ogden for the full four quarters, racking up a 40-10 win. The Rockets pushed the score to 33-10 by the end of the third, a deficit the Spartans had little chance of recovering from.

Tolono Unity pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.4 points over those games. As for Pontiac, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Pontiac took a serious blow against Tolono Unity when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 48-6. Thankfully for the Indians, Garrett Richardson (who rushed for 225 yards and three scores on only 12 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
