Baseball Recap: Towers Titans vs. Columbia Eagles
Towers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 30th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of the Columbia Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent defeat being a 9-8 loss back in March.
Demarcus Broughton led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those runs were his first of the season. Brandon Scott was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
Towers' defeat dropped their record down to 0-22. As for Columbia, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.
Coming up, Towers will venture away from home to face off against Lamar County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans are coming into the matchup with three straight wins at home, so the Titans will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Columbia, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-4 loss against Redan on the 2nd.
