Softball Recap: Sonoraville's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Sonoraville waltzed into their contest on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors. Considering the Phoenix have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ansley Hall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024.

In other batting news, Sonoraville let Peyton Angel and Marley Hall run wild. Angel went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Hall got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kaylee Sitten was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Sonoraville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sonoraville's win bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Sonoraville will be playing in front of their home fans against Calhoun at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, they will venture away from home to challenge Ringgold at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
