Softball Recap: Montezuma-Cortez Drops Highest Score of Season Against Meeker

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montezuma-Cortez). Everything went their way against the Meeker Cowboys on Saturday as they made off with a 19-12 win. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won three in a row.

Raegan Veach was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Paislee Mestas also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Montezuma-Cortez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Montezuma-Cortez's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Meeker, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Montezuma-Cortez beat the Cowboys by a score of 15-4 later that day.
