Baseball Recap: Manchester Beats Eastern for Their Third Straight Win

Manchester had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Eastern Warriors. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-5 back in April.

Luke Applegate made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. Manchester is 9-1 when Applegate posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Clayton Colvin was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Manchester's record is now 13-7. As for Eastern, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Manchester will take on Southeastern at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Eastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
