Softball Recap: Campbell Comes Up Short

If Campbell was riding high fresh off their 20-1 takedown of Osborne on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Paulding County Patriots on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-9 back in August.

Aubrey Headd was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Carter Smith also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Campbell has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Paulding County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Campbell will square off against Kennesaw Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Paulding County, they will take on Osborne at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
