The Dos Palos Broncos will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Avenal Buccaneers at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Tuesday, Dos Palos took a serious blow against the Horned Toads, falling 66-24. While losing is never fun, Dos Palos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1259th, while the Horned Toads are ranked 461st).
Despite the defeat, Dos Palos saw an underclassman step up: Hannah Slimp scored 11 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 45.8% of Dos Palos' points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-15, which was the final score in Avenal's tilt against the Aztecs on Tuesday. Avenal was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-13.
Dos Palos has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Avenal, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.
