Basketball Preview: Highland Hawks vs. Desert View Jaguars

Having just played yesterday, the Highland Hawks will jump right back in to play the Desert View Jaguars at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. One thing working in Highland's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Highland saw some tournament action on Thursday. They took down Winslow 57-38. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Bulldogs are ranked 70th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bailey Williams had another great game (as she tends to do), going 8-for-17 en route to 20 points and three steals. What's more, she posted four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Emilee Searle was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Desert View suffered their biggest defeat since February 7th last Thursday. They had to suffer through a 56-25 loss at the hands of Walden Grove. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Red Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Highland's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Desert View, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
