Preview: Chester Clippers vs. Academy Park Knights
Chester is 1-9 against Academy Park since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Chester Clippers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Academy Park Knights at 7:00 p.m. Chester will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
Even though Chester has not done well against Penn Wood recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Chester strolled past Penn Wood with points to spare, taking the game 61-45.
Chester can attribute much of their success to Imani Dorsey, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals, and Ja?Mya Muhammad, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Muhammad hasn't dropped below two steals for 14 straight games. Shyne Hall was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Academy Park's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lower Merion. While losing is never fun, Academy Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 413th, while Lower Merion is ranked 152nd).
Chester is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Academy Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Chester beat Academy Park 62-53 in their previous matchup on January 9th. Does Chester have another victory up their sleeve, or will Academy Park turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
