Softball Game Preview: Northgate Vikings vs. Villa Rica Wildcats

For the second straight game, Northgate will face off against Villa Rica. The Vikings will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Northgate 2.8, Villa Rica 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Villa Rica will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Northgate extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Vikings came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Wildcats. For Villa Rica's part, Sophia Plagemann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. Plagemann has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Helaina Magistro made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Villa Rica has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-12 record this season. As for Northgate, their victory bumped their record up to 25-7.
