The Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs will square off against the Alexander Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Kennesaw Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, it was close, but Kennesaw Mountain sidestepped Alexander for a 4-3 victory.

For Alexander's part, Matthew Westbrook put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Westbrook has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Jon Bemus was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Joshua Price also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Kennesaw Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. Alexander moved to 4-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
